On Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, Rabbi James Perman will be our speaker for "The Shape of Religion Today". This will be a dinner event starting at 5:30PM at Bentley Village (Palmetto Room), 850 Retreat Dr., Naples, FL 34110 (north of Wiggins Pass). The cost per person is $35 (dinner, including 1 complimentary glass of wine).
Columbia alum James Perman, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Shalom of Naples, draws on a lifelong career in congregation, community, and college teaching to describe the interplay of religion and society in today’s America. Recent tragic anti-semitic events in Pittsburgh underline the never-ending need for religious understanding and tolerance.
Rabbi Perman is a captivating speaker with a great sense of humor, who also has keen insight in the changes, spiritual & otherwise, Naples has had over the past 30 years. As a young man, he served 4 years as chaplain in the Air Force, stationed in Turkey. He has garnered much praise from other regional spiritual leaders of the Greater Naples Ministerial Association, including Episcopal Rev. Dr. Kathleen Kircher, who said “Rabbi Perman and I are great believers in interfaith networking, of having the community coming together when we face an issue of national or global significance… He is a gifted leader…who brushes off discouragement and keeps things moving.”
