About Our Speaker: Dr. Garud N. Iyengar
Dr. Garud Iyengar is the Avanessians Director of Columbia’s Data Science Institute and a Professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia Engineering. He also co-leads Columbia University’s Artificial Intelligence Initiative. His research spans control, machine learning, and optimization, with current work in areas such as power systems and supply chains, causal inference, large-scale game solving, and modeling cellular processes. He has authored 90+ publications, holds two patents, served as an Amazon Scholar (2019–2024), and was elected an INFORMS Fellow.
